Friday! National Doughnut day. Joy everywhere right? Cute everyone! Happy Lake beach day! Annnnnnd also the day I actually fell apart in a tiny corner of my house. Here is the deal. I have had these flashes of feeling that Lilah is my last baby. And my heart is screaming, how can that be? All I want to do is help the missing little babies that belong in my arms join my family. Yet, here I am. Two full years of dying for baby three and my arms and belly are empty.

Today started wonderful. You know those days, when everyone listens. The kids clean their own messes AND eat all their food? Say what!? That actually happens? Yes. Yes folks it does. And yet as we made the 32 minute drive to the lake I could feel it. Swimsuit on and I can look down and see the belly that is perfectly flat, no baby bulge or bloat. No excessive fatigue. No due date.

How can I not be full of 100% pure blissed out mommy joy? I am blessed you guys! I have two beautiful children! My kids are WONDERFUL. They bring me joy, they bring each other joy. They are beautiful. I see Christ reflected in their eyes as they show kindness towards others. They share, they help, they love and they are mine. Yes I feel joy. Yes I feel gratitude. But I also feel that pain of missing children that I feel are waiting to come join our family.

But I also feel that pain of missing children that I feel are waiting to come join our family.

Anyways, today at the lake we were enjoying our beach with lots of empty space around us. Playing in the water, relaxing and loving life. Two things happened over the space of the next two hours. One, I watched a mother lose it at her tiny children. Both younger than mine and I sat in judgment. How cruel am I? Yes I know.. don’t do that. I try not to, it happens. Anyways, she had a one year old and a two year old and was yelling at the top of her lungs at them. Don’t touch the sand, don’t bother the lady and her kids, don’t walk, don’t don’t don’t don’t. Her children were darling and when they walked up and sat down on my towels I just smiled. Toddling around on the beach the little boy was seriously so sweet with his twelve month old chubby cheeks. I couldn’t help but watch them play and smiled as they played with my kids. Lilah immediately walked over and got down on his level to play and chat with him. She loves babies. I found myself talking to the mother for a few minutes. Maybe exchanged ten words with her. I asked how old her kids were and then listened as she rattled off with joy on her face “She is two, he is one and I’m pregnant! Due in December!” We didn’t chat more, we didn’t become friends. We just passed on the beach today. That’s all it took.

Lilah complained she was cold so we packed up shortly after our encounter and went home. I figured three days in a row at the beach was plenty for this week. I sat in traffic the whole way home and wished goodbye to the baby years and by the time we finished our 32 minute drive I was ready to go inside and snuggle my kids. I didn’t realize till about two hours later how much I was struggling. It’s odd what triggers the emotional breakdown of a mother struggling with infertility. Just when I feel like I have it under control I feel it fly out of my hands and I just want to find a quiet corner and sob because I need a good cry. I found myself trying to tell Sean about what happened today and not able to get the story out. I eventually found myself in the corner of my bedroom sitting next to the window crying my heart out. What do you do when hope isn’t in your heart? What do you do when you feel as if your time has come and gone? What do you do when you feel like your years for bearing children are flying by and time it’s all nearly run out?

This is me today. I’m at about a zero on the hope scale and I wanted to tell you women out that, that’s okay. You don’t have to pretend to be positive. You can cry. You can let it out. And you can feel those feelings of heartache. When you feel like you have no one to talk to, no one who understands I want you to know I do. I truly do.

I’m sure I’ll be fine. I’m sure the days will get better and if we have more children I will know that they are a blessing beyond any that I expected. If we do not? I know I am blessed to have these little souls in my home for their childhood. And I know it’s okay to have been honest. I am a mother with two children that longs daily, hourly and by the second for more children. I know the love of a child; I know the feeling of kicks in my belly.

I know the feeling of the highest peaks of pain during labor, the pain of contractions and the pain of giving birth. I know the feelings of inadequacy and fear as you hold a newborn baby. I know the fear of losing the baby’s heartbeat as the nurse explains that you are most likely going to have an emergency c-section to save your child. I know the relief of the final push of delivery as your baby born and then is assessed and then placed in your arms. I know the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with postpartum recovery. It’s all I long for.

Women of the infertility world, you are in my heart. I’m off to crawl into my corner for a few more good cries, but I am standing with you with my whole heart.

I’m so sorry to hear your struggles. I haven’t struggled with infertility, so I have little to offer you. There is nothing to feel guilty about. Each child is a gift, yes, and wanting a 3rd doesn’t mean you don’t want 1 & 2. You aren’t trying to replace, you are trying to grow your family. There is no shame in that.

This is an amazing and well written article. I relate to it so much, especially the part where you start to judge people taking their kids for granted (even when you don’t mean to!) I have been trying for a baby for two years now and I can feel every feeling you described. You may also enjoy this piece I wrote along with a few others on infertility on my blog jess-because.com.

Oh man, I could have written this same post yesterday. I have two beautiful kids and they truly bring me joy, but we know there are more waiting for us and they aren’t here yet. Yesterday I was packing up some clothes that my kids have grown out of and my daughter made a comment about how we are keeping the clothes “so that when mommy has another baby we can use them”. I just about lost it right then and there but composed myself until I could make it up to my bedroom, shut the door and cry. It’s so hard some days.

Hey loves! So now that you all know this lady here (ME) wears some lovely extensions??? I want to show you how I do so without them showing and giving me away.

So! First things first… my regular hair needs to be tended to. As you can see I put the top of it up and then get rid of abut ½ of my hair by braiding it up. I braid it across then around and pin it up. This gets rid of all my layers so that my hair can have the majority of the body as long, thick and all one length.

So! First things first… my regular hair needs to be tended to. As you can see I put the top of it up and then get rid of abut ½ of my hair by braiding it up. I braid it across then around and pin it up. This gets rid of all my layers so that my hair can have the majority of the body as long, thick and all one length.

I start by pinning my first layer of extension around along the very bottom of my hairline, the next goes about two inches above that.

Once I do those first two sets, I begin on the sides! From here I will let my hair down then begin pinning. I use two wefts on each side right above my ear. I will stack the next about an inch above that. I watch how my layers fall and pin the extensions around the crown creating a perfect blend!!! The best thing about this is that the whole process takes me less than ten minutes. Then, my hair is nearly perfect and I can go about my day!

Thank you Irresistible Me for sponsoring this post! I adore my extensions and I am so excited to share them with my viewers.

The extensions being shown are the Silky Touch 24 inch extensions in chocolate brown.

So. Long story short? (Well.. long hair short actually) About six months after Lilah was born I was convinced that cutting my hair was what I needed. 15 inches later I was devastated and I knew right then I was not going to be happy again until my hair grew out again. The only problem with that is, it takes me about six and a half years to grow my hair out.

I searched… I hunted… I looked and looked for something to make me love my hair again. That’s when I came across Irresistible Me hair extensions and I knew that my problem was solved. I am happy and my hair is growing so much faster than before. It is protected and undamaged because I can style the extensions for the majority of the time.

So today I wanted to show you a couple of my top favorite looks with my amazing extensions from this brand.

The extensions I am wearing are the Silky Touch Chocolate brown 24″ set. They are a dream!

*Thank you so much Irresistible Me for sponsoring this post. And remember, as always, the opinions expressed are solely mine.

First, of course, is all down.  I have some tricks to make this work. I have really thick hair so making the extensions match and look natural is a skill that I had to learn.

I braid up the entire back half of my hair. Little row of French braids starting about 3 inches down from the crown. From my ears back and the top down. I hide it all. Then I pin the end of the braid back up so it’s hidden. It’s flat and completely able to be covered by the extensions. Then I just proceed to clip them in and blend them and style my hair. And just like that, I have long hair again!

***One important tip: make sure to hot style the hair before putting the extensions in. It smooth’s the follicles of the hair and makes blending them much easier.  Then go ahead and put in the extensions.

My other look is this fun and super quick topknot. It’s perfect every time. I take my hair and put it in a little bun. THEN clip the extensions in a circle around the hairtie, as close as possible so they can be covered by the hair when I wrap it around.  I twist the hair all together in the front of the bun (twisting towards the back of my head going under) then just twist and wrap. The takes about 5 bobby pins to hold into place and always looks so nice. I only use about ¼ of the hair on this one.

Next!!! A half up braid. First, I do all the steps from my first one where I wear it down. Then I simply do a Dutch braid on each side and then braid those two braids together with one more section of the straight down hair.  All the hair goes typically on one side if I’m doing this.

And that’s just how I roll!

So! I’m hoping you love these looks as much as I do!

As I mentioned, the extensions I am wearing are the Silky Touch Chocolate brown 24″ set and they are a perfect match.

Oh dear darling LulaRoe. We need to talk about your game changing options.

I can’t be the only girl who will buy a shirt or dress that I love in every color … please tell me it’s not just me. Well I want to give a honest and quick review on the products I’ve been trying out over the past week and a half! AND THEN we’ll do a giveaway!

First. Julia. Babe. You fit so good, you look amazing, and I love the options. Julia is a fitted dress that will basically be everyone’s best friend. I love the style. This is a dress you can wear to church or to the park. Again, I LOVE this style and the length is great!

Second, the Carly! I’ve never worn a dress that I swear feels like pajamas but this is the cutest. I will admit I tend to lean more formal in my clothes, but the second I put it on with my little shoes I was set and feeling confident. I adore the high-low look and seriously… I could just go to sleep in it when I’m done for the day. SUPER cozy.

The Perfect Tee babes. It truly is all they say. It’s perfect. It fits in the arms and hangs lose. It has a really cozy fabric. Now for photos I typically go more fitted but for outfits everyday and when I’m running around I like my clothes a bit looser and more movement friendly. So, this fits the bill perfect-ly.

LAST! The Lindsay Kimono. Girls. This is such a versatile piece. Again, I’m typically more formal so I experimented with a couple of different looks. This even goes perfectly over my pajamas when I’m at home. I LOVE to be cozy and this fits the bill. It also pairs so completely right with a pair of jeans and the perfect Tee top. So, casual to pajamas, this is your piece.

My final thing, one major plus that I LOVE, is that I know how everything will fit before it arrives (if I’ve purchased that style before). I know every Irma, Julia, etc will fit me how my others do. So I’m basically able to just shop patterns! Which makes shopping so easy. You’ll never run out of options. Chic, casual, formal or loud and crazy, there are options of every kind for you!

SO NOW! Get ready to win BIG LADIES!!!

Major giveaway!! We will be picking a winner randomly on Friday at 3pm and giving away $100 to shop at LulaRoe with Mallory!!

Here’s how to enter:

1 entry by following myself @lauren.stewart_dc and @lularoemallorym on Instagram and TWO entries by joining her Facebook group, found HERE, where she will have all of her inventory visible for you ladies to pick from!!

GIFT round up for VALENTINES day! Who doesn’t like to do a little something special for your littlest Valentines?

So here is my list of fun Valentines Day Ideas for you and those babes and a little something for yourself as well!

First off, I always hit that dollar section at Target. But I make sure to go early January so it’s not sold out and I get to see ALL the goodies. This year I got stuff for the kids and also found a few things for my office. (That will be a completely different post.) The kids got the cutest little things!!

2. Bubble gums! (We love the gum balls around the holidays; it’s sort of a family tradition.)

3. Cupid’s Arrow straws! (My kids think everything tastes better from a novelty paper straw… And it’s so true right?)

4. We also got Lavender and Pink nail polish this year. We get it from the dollar store near us. It’s a Gel one that’s quick and shiny and we only need one coat. 🙂

5. We also got the kids new Shades!! WE LOVE sunnies at this house. We got them Shades from You, by Lauren of course (my business that we launched this past week!) And we carry so many color options. The kids totally freak out over their sun glasses.

6. And can I just say, thank heavens for Old Navy and their cutest little love tee’s! The kids got the most darling tops to wear and I’m obsessed.

7. Valentines Banners to decorate with. The kids color hearts every single day so having some cute banners to add made their beautiful artwork really stand out.

8. Next!?? Personalized Valentines cards?! Yes. Yes. Please! We partnered with Minted.com to create our own version of homemade cards. Each year we do a full-on Valentines Day photo session with the kids and this is the perfect way to share it.  Not only were we able to create the cutest cards, but we were able to make customized Valentines day stamps so we can just mail it out and not have to run and spend all our time at the Post Office.

And of course.. not only does Minted.com have AMAZING cards, they create art for your life and your story. You’ve got to check out these other options for some great gift ideas.

Now… the fun stuff. Stuff for Mom. (Me, duh!) I got a pair of silky pajama pants and a top to match. Amen and thanks Target for the gorgeous options of silky (but appropriate for wear when people are around:-) ) pajamas. But still very glamorous and I feel amazing in them. I also got myself some new shades from You, by Lauren (EEEK!), some lippie products, again, from You, by Lauren!

And, finally, some darling office supplies: Calendar, clipboard, and a ceramic apple for my desk… because… cute.

What are you getting for Valentine’s Day! Any other great ideas!?
