Nothing makes my family feel closer or happier than yearly family traditions. My kids love to have things to look forward to each year. They look forward to cheesy potatoes, Christmas bread, homemade chocolates, Christmas Eve traditions and being together for them. You can almost see the excitement in the air. It is electric. And traditions are my favorite and they make my heart sing.
I wanted to welcome you into my home to see a few of them. We hosted Thanksgiving this year and passed the threshold into becoming actual grown ups! Hahaah! I’m serious! If you have ever made an entire Thanksgiving dinner with just yourself and your favorite girl Cass, you know you can do anything.
Christmas Bread, Turkey, Grandma Jensen’s Cheesy Potatoes and a beautiful place to eat it all. I remember watching my mother prepare our home for guests. Taking care that the place settings looked just right and her antiques freshly dusted. Gleaming lights and perfectly-maintained everything. Setting the scene for a dreamy and memorable evening with our loved ones. Growing up in my home the meal was an event and it was always one to remember. I always sat on the left side near my dad who was at the head of the table. I always elbowed my milk right onto his lap. He always jumped quick as lightening to try and catch it. Sorry dad. But thanks for letting me sit by you, even though you eventually had to swap your dinner pants for sweats because I made a mess of the others. I sure love you.
As I got older and I married my sweet husband, we lived close to his family so we attended Thanksgiving there for the first few years of our married life. Huge family gatherings, candied yams and cheesy potatoes are the memories I took away. Christmas bread and Christmas Chocolates made the air smell like heaven. I knew I would forever make those cheesy potatoes and Candied yams because I loved the way every single person there went straight for them. I knew my husband grew up eating them and it was important to me that, even though we lived so far away from family once we moved to the East coast, that he still was able to hold onto his family traditions.
Now as I entertain, I have my mother and my sweet mother-in-law to guide me. Prepping my home. Prepping the meals. Making our own memories. This year, since it was our first year hosting without one of our mothers doing all the heavy lifting in the kitchen, I wanted it to be perfect. I redid my entire main floor. I’m not kidding. New couches, swapped out my table, and new rugs in the two main rooms. I had to have it perfect.
We got an 8×10 Braided natural fiber rug from eSaleRugs. This rug is absolute perfection for the space. It’s totally durable and looks amazing. eSaleRugs has options galore! You can get a Persian rug, an Oriental one, Modern Rugs and even Vintage options. I’m not kidding. You can find a rug for any room or outdoor space in your home at eSaleRugs. I have a list a mile long of rugs I’m ready to add to my house one by one. Like this one here for my hallway upstairs! It’s even on sale right now. Marked down from $516 to $129. Isn’t it just beautiful? I also want this one for my master bathroom! And this rug is literally my dream rug.
Can you imagine having a rug to pass down to your family? I hadn’t thought of this before but, in every room we use the most, we sit around a beautiful rug. I will cherish the memories of my children learning to crawl, walk and talk on these rugs. We take special care not to wear shoes and to keep them as beautiful as possible and I would love to think of my children creating memories with their children on these rugs some day.
Thank you so much eSaleRugs for helping to make my Holiday dreams come true.
