My skin. I swear to you that having kids has sent my skin into a downward spiral of destruction. Perioral Dermatitis. Allergies to sugar and basically any carbs. I’ve suffered through painful breakouts, horrible blemishes and so much dry skin. What do I do? I now drink MASS amounts of water, cut out sugar, and eat clean. It still wasn’t quite enough. I’m doing everything in my power to take back control of my skin and be able to have skin I am proud of. That includes Botox, microneedling, and great skincare.
Today lets chat about microneedling. It is an experience for sure. They numb you all up then go to town. Thank goodness Katharine is fantastic. She is soft and thorough and very good. I can already see a difference and I will be doing more treatments for my face. Don’t forget to give her a call for your appointment. You’ll be SO glad you did!
I’ve asked her to give you a good rundown of all the details on my newest favorite skincare necessity.
WHAT IT IS: Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. We use a pen-like device with 10 tiny little needles to create small punctures across the top layer of the skin. These punctures are considered little “micro-injuries” and trigger the body to create new collagen and elastin, which keeps our skin looking tight and youthful.
WHAT IT DOES/REASONS TO DO IT: Results can include improved texture and tone of the skin, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and even stretch marks! Microneedling can also be combined with PRP (platelet rich plasma), which helps to increase the efficacy of the treatment. Microneedling works great for acne or chickenpox scars, as well as for fine lines, discoloration and general skin rejuvenation.
LONG TERM CARE: Please practice good habits like proper skin care and SUNSCREEN DAILY! Micro-needling can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve the desired results. This usually takes a series of 3-6 treatments. All minimally invasive treatments for the face only “reset the clock”.
You continue to age, therefore you need to continue with keeping up your treatments. Just like a car that gets no maintenance falls apart faster, a face with no maintenance will also age faster!
